Tire Retreading

What Is a Retread Tire?

Retread tires (also known as remolded or recap tires) go through a specialized process that replaces the worn tread on used tires with new tread. This gives tires a second life while offering several practical and environmental benefits:

  • Cost Savings: Retreaded tires can significantly reduce your total cost of ownership.

  • In-House Retreading: We select and inspect used tires, then apply new treads in-house to ensure consistent quality.

  • Eco-Friendly: Retreading reduces landfill waste and uses less oil than manufacturing a new tire.

  • Recyclability: Tires can be retreaded multiple times—some up to ten—helping reduce overall waste.

  • Rubber Reuse: Rubber removed from retreaded tires can be shredded and repurposed as rubber mulch.

THE RETREADING PROCESS

Before a tire is approved for retreading, it goes through a detailed inspection to ensure the casing is in good condition. Only high-quality used tires are accepted. Here's what happens next:

  • Inspection & Buffing: Tires are thoroughly inspected to ensure the casing is structurally sound, then mechanically buffed to the correct radius and diameter.
  • Tread Application: New tread rubber is bonded using a combination of heat, pressure, time, and vulcanization.
  • Final Inspection: Each tire undergoes a second quality inspection to confirm performance and safety standards.
  • Finishing Touches: Retreaded tires are trimmed, painted, and prepped for delivery.
